Joining in the excitement of trade union members all around the country who have been actively emulating production labor to achieve the highest achievements to welcome the trade union congresses at all levels; with the approval of the Trade Union of Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Party Committee of Maritime College No.1, on the morning of April 17th, 2023, the Trade Union of Maritime College No.1 held the 13th Grassroots Trade Union Congress, term 2023 - 2028 in order to evaluate the implementation of the Resolution of the Grassroots Trade Union Congress for the term 2017 – 2022, determine the directions of the Trade Union work and elect a new Executive Board with sufficient capacity, qualifications and enthusiasm to fulfill the mission and tasks of the Trade Union for the next term.

Attending and directing the Congress, there were Mr. Tran Trong Duc - Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietnam Maritime Administration; Mr. Ha Quang Thang – Member of the Standing Trade Union of Vietnam Maritime Administration, Deputy Director of Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority directly directed the College’s Trade Union Congress. On the side of Maritime College No.1, there were Mr. Luu Viet Hung - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of MC1; the comrades of the School Council, the Board of Directors, the Executive Board of the Trade Union, leaders of units, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the whole union members come from the trade union divisions, trade union groups in the school.

The Trade Union Congress of Maritime College No.1, term 2023-2028 is an important political event that both affirms the strong development and includes exciting and extensive political activities for trade union organizations. This is an occasion that trade union’s members review the achieved results, the remaining limitations in the last term, and at the same time, members also have the opportunity to contribute constructive ideas, propose directions, plan activities in the following years to make the school’s trade union stronger, meet the requirements and aspirations of officials and employees, and contribute to the strong development of MC1.
Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Luu Viet Hung - Secretary of the Party Committee, the School’s Rector recorded and praised the achievements of the School’s Trade Union in the last term; completely agreed with a report summarizing trade union activities for the term 2018 – 2023 and directions for the term 2023-2028 presented by the incumbent Executive Board. In the new term, the MC1’s leaders required the Executive Board of the Trade Union to closely follow the resolution of the School’s Party Committee for the term 2020-2025 and the resolution concretized in each field and each period by the Party Committee to effectively implement trade union activities, present specific and practical directions, promote the sense of responsibility, democracy, and intellectual concentration. Besides, it is necessary to renew the contents and methods of implementation; improve the capacity; affirmed the position and role of the Trade Union to pioneer in the fields and stand side by side with the Board of Directors, Departments, and Centers in implementing solutions to improve the quality of education and training and help MC1 become a high-quality training institution by 2025. At the same time, the Executive Board of the Trade Union actively participates in the formulation and supervision of the implementation of laws, mechanisms, and policies of the Party and the government, performs well in its role of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of employees.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Tran Trong Duc - Vice Chairman of Trade Union of Vietnam Maritime Administration highly appreciated and praised the achievements of the school’s Trade Union in the last term. In addition, he emphasized: It is necessary to renew the contents and methods of implementation, diversify forms of advocacy, and forms of educational propaganda to convey the policies of the Party, government and trade unions to members; regularly pay attention to and care for policy families and families in extremely difficult circumstances; create conditions and opportunities for female employees to show their capacity; take advantage of the leadership and direction of the School Party Committee, actively coordinate with the Board of Directors to effectively implement the contents of fundamental and comprehensive renovation of education and training to meet the requirements of industrialization - modernization in terms of market economy and international integration; pay attention to building a team of trade union cadres who are knowledgeable, dynamic, creative, brave, dedicated, and prestigious. In the direction of implementation, the Executive Board of the Trade Union needs to clearly define the focus and concentration, avoid rambling and cliché way.
With the spirit of “democracy, solidarity and responsibility”, the Congress highly agreed on the Personnel Project of the Executive Board of the Trade Union for the term 2023-2028. The Congress elected the Executive Board for the term 2023-2028 including 05 comrades and elected 06 comrades to attend the 10th Congress of Trade Union of Vietnam Maritime Administration. The Congress unanimously voted to approve the Resolution of the 13th Trade Union Congress of Maritime College No.1, term 2023-2028.

The Trade Union Congress of Maritime College No.1 was a great success with trust in the direction of the Trade Union of Vietnam Maritime Administration, the MC1’s Party Committee. With the coordination and support of the Board of Directors, the new Executive Board of the Trade Union will implement effectively the resolutions of the Party and the Trade Union Congress at all levels, contribute to the excellent completion of the set goals, take care of and improve the lives of employees and lead Maritime College No.1 to develop sustainably.
