The representative of College of Maritime Science visited Maritime College No.1 (October 24th, 2023) (30/10/2023)


On October 24th, 2023, Maritime College No.1 was honored to welcome the delegation of the Northeast Maritime Institute (NMI), College of Maritime Science led by Mr. Eric Dawiki – President & CEO to visit and work.

Welcoming the representative of NMI were Mr. Luong Quang Trung – Vice Rector of MC1 and representatives of school’s units (International Cooperation & Science Technology Department, Faculty of Ship Navigation and Faculty of Marine Engineering Operation).

At the reception, Mr. Luong Quang Trung – Vice Rector sent a warm welcome and thanked the representative of NMI for visiting and working at Maritime College No.1. He also introduced MC1’s history and development, training scale, training facilities, training program as well as cooperation with domestic and international businesses and partners; more importantly, MC1’s position and role in training seafarers.

On behalf of Northeast Maritime Institute, College of Maritime Science, Mr. Eric Dawiki said that NMI became the first training institution in the United States to provide training under the International Convention on Standards of Training and Certification for Watch keepers and Seafarers (STCW), 1978, as amended. Currently, NMI provides on-side maritime courses, online maritime courses, licensing and certification.

The visit of the representative of NMI to Maritime College No.1 took place successfully. The two schools hope that this visit will be a premise for cooperation opportunities in training, educating, and improving qualifications for students in the maritime industry.

At the end of the meeting, the representative of NMI visited the training facilities at MC1. They highly appreciated the facilities for seafarers’ training and education at school.
