Maritime College No.I attended Aus4skills Project Review Seminar (August 31st 2021) (07/09/2021)


In order to summarize and evaluate the activities of the project "Promoting the participation of enterprises in vocational education activities for the period 2016-2020" under "Vietnam–Australia Partnership for Human Resource Development" (Aus4skills) program, on August 31st 2021 and September 1st 2021, Maritime College No.I attended the Project Review Seminar for the period 2017-2020 and agreed on the 2021-2022 plan to be held online by Zoom.

Participating in the seminar were the representatives of the Australian Embassy, the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, the Department of Labor-Invalids and Social Affairs in Ho Chi Minh City; the technical consultants for the Aus4skills Program, Persons with Disabilities – DOPs; the partners of the project: Logistic  Vocational Training Advisory Board - LIRC, representatives and leaders of TVET institutes, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry-VCCI; representatives of Aus4skills' partners such as Queensland University of Technology –QUT; American International School-AIS; University of Southern California – USC,   Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology- RMIT together with Aus4skills office and project staff.

During 02 working days, the seminar was held up with 02 sessions: the first session on the topic of project overview and the second session on the topic of target group discussion. At the first meeting, after the representative of the Aus4skills project office reported on the general implementation progress, presented a design summary of the phase 2 and plan from July 2021 to June 2022, the participants shared experiences learned during the project implementation. The representatives of the Logistics Vocational Training Advisory Board - LIRC reported the results of the skills forecast 2021. At the same time, the consultants also shared some key results of the survey of Logistics students in 2021. In the second session, the participants were divided into groups to discuss indicators to evaluate the main results of the first year, first two years and first three years and reported the results of the discussion.

Representative of Maritime College No. I, Ms. Vu Thi Hai Van - Vice Rector of the school shared her experience in participating in the project with the content that “the Maritime College No. I built and implemented a training program according to the learning outcomes (CBTA) with Aus4Skills support”. She said that in 2020, Maritime College I was very honored to be selected by the Aus4skills Program for pilot training of the receive and store cargo module under Competency-based Training and Assessment (CBTA) according to APEC standards. The project was implemented in 5 steps, after completing the training process as planned, the assessment was organized at the school's warehouse simulation and with the participation of 3 companies: Macs Shipping Corporation-Hai Phong branch (MACS Shipping Corp), Green Port Services One Member Limited Company (Green Port), Golden Link Joint Stock Company (Golden Link) with 02 parts: practical and theoretical ones. Right in the evaluation session, experts from enterprises appreciated highly the training results according to this method not only with the students following the correct processes but also handling professionally the real-life situations arisen by business leaders. It has been the encouraging result that many students participating in the project have been accepted to work officially and part time at Golden Link Company. By the results of implementing the above pilot training project, the school affirmed that "In order to train high-quality human resources, there needs to be a close connection between the school and enterprises".

Furthermore, Ms. Vu Thi Hai Van, on behalf of the school leadership, thanked the Aus4skills Program, Strategix Organization, the Queensland University of Technology-QUT and the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training for facilitating lecturers to participate in useful courses, pilot project activities for enterprises to accompany and share with activities in the training chain, so that students can have access to professional reality and especially they have more opportunities to be recruited into job positions that promote their professional capacity and high income.
