Maritime College No.1 Welcomed the APEC SEN Delegation (09/02/2023)


According to the working schedule in Vietnam, on February 7, 2023 , the delegation representing Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Seafarers Excellence Network (APEC SEN), led by Mr. Heesu, Jeong - APEC SEN Project Manager, member of the secretariat taking in charge of online training courses for seafarers and Ms. Ye Rim Pyo - APEC SEN Project Manager, visited and worked at Maritime College No.1.

Welcoming the delegation were Dr. Luu Viet Hung - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector; Mr. Luong Quang Trung - Vice Rector; the representatives of International Cooperation & Science Technology Department, Training Quality Assurance Department, Faculty of Ship Navigation, Faculty of Marine Engineering Operation and MC1’s students attending Global onboard training program for maritime students (sponsored by KIMFT, Korea, in 2022.

At pull-aside meeting, Dr. Luu Viet Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of MC1 welcomed and thanked the APEC SEN Delegation for visiting and working at the Maritime College No.1; The delegation was given information about MC1 including history, departments, facilities, training programs, training courses, recruitment and training of seafarers in recent years and the training scale of the following years.

 Also at the reception, Mr. Heesu, Jeong and Ms. Ye Rim Pyo - APEC SEN Project Manager introduced APEC SEN projects in progress such as: the Global onboard Training program for maritime students in 2023; the Global Onboard Training course for lecturers in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.

Related to the Global Onboard Training program from 2021 to 2022, 06 students of the Maritime College No.1 attended it and they were highly appreciated in their professional qualifications, English levels and sense of discipline by APEC SEN, such as Truong Quoc Anh – student of Faculty of Ship navigation in 2021 and Bui Anh Ngoc - student of Faculty of Marine Engineering Operation in 2022.

The Train-the-Trainer Course on Global Onboard Training Ship targeted for Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam will start in 2023. Attending this training course, they will be trained in the following contents, such as: Maritime Education and Training International Trend (Educational content technology: metaverse, AR/VR, 3D training, etc., Maritime technology: eco-friendly ships, autonomous ships, etc.); Capacity Building on Global Onboard Communication and Leadership and Job Competency Training for Maritime Instructors.

At the end of the meeting, the APEC SEN delegation visited the school's facilities for training. The delegation highly appreciated these facilities serving the training of the school in general and of the maritime industry in particular.
