Maritime College No.1 organized the exchange program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21st, 1973 - September 21st, 2023) (10/08/2023)


With the desire to continue consolidating the extensive strategic partnership, strengthening cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Japan, and enhancing the friendship and mutual understanding between the Maritime College No.1 and Hiroshima College (Japan) as well as Japanese partners, on the morning of August 5th, 2023, Maritime College No.1 solemnly organized the exchange program celebrating the 50th anniversary of friendship between Vietnam and Japan at the Wharf 22B Ngo Quyen where MC1 STAR training ship - the historical symbol of 50 years of friendship between Vietnam and Japan, is anchoring. The program was organized with many unique cultural exchange activities which is a part of the series to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan at MC1.

Attending the exchange program were Mr. Seiki Furudate - First Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Vietnam; Mr. Hoang Hong Giang - Deputy Director, Vietnam Maritime Administration; Mr. Tran Viet Cuong - Vice Chairman, Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association of Hai Phong city; Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung - Director, Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs; Ms. Pham Thi Huyen - Deputy Director, Hai Phong Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, along with representatives of state management agencies of maritime affairs, representatives of Vietnam and Japan enterprises, and leaders of MC1, representatives of school’s units, staff, lecturers, and students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Luu Viet Hung - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector warmly welcomed and expressed his honor to welcome the distinguished guests attended the exchange program celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan friendship. He hoped that within the framework of the exchange program, not only would it further enhance the relationship between the two countries in general, but it also spreads and strengthens the cooperative relationship between Maritime College No.1 and Hiroshima College, between MC1 and Japanese - Vietnamese companies; he also hope that Maritime College No.1 and Vietnamese - Japanese companies will continue to learn, connect and cooperate in education, training, employment in general and the maritime sector in particular.

Attending the exchange program, Mr. Seiki Furudate - First Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Vietnam highly appreciated the efforts of Maritime College No.1 in implementing and maintaining activities under the Memorandum of Understanding between Hiroshima College and Maritime College No.1, which fosters Japan-Vietnam extensive strategic partnership. In education and training Vietnamese seafarers, Maritime College No.1 has supplied a large number of high-quality seafarers to Japanese shipping companies. Mr. Seiki Furudate also expressed his desire that through this exchange program Maritime College No.1 will further foster cooperation between the two schools, between MC1 and businesses in the near future. The Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and Mr. Seiki Furudate will always support and facilitate the development goals of Maritime College No.1.

On behalf of Vietnam Maritime Administration, Mr. Hoang Hong Giang - Deputy Director highly appreciated the cooperation between MC1 and Japanese business in education and training seafarers and the supplies of a large number of seafarers to Japanese shipping companies. The Deputy Director also highly appreciated the organization of the exchange program celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan friendship. Moreover, he suggested that through today's festival, MC1 and Japanese and Vietnamese businesses continue to learn, connect and cooperate in the education, training, employment in general and the maritime sector in particular.

Mr. Yutaka Yoshida - President, CEO of Shirai Shipping Co., Ltd. has greatly supported MC1 in promoting the cooperation agreement between Maritime College No.1 and Hiroshima College on exchange and cooperation in education and training of maritime human resources and created conditions for connecting exchanges and cooperation between Maritime College No. 1 and Japanese enterprises. On this occasion, representing Japanese companies, he presented the school with ship mooring equipment and practical school supplies for students.

The leaders of many Japanese companies such as Nakashima Company, Hanshin Company, Taiko Kikai attended and presented MC1 with marine equipment such as a propeller, a cylinder cover, a three-screw pump… to serve education and training crew members. In addition, there are some Vietnames companies such as Thanh Ha Maritime Services Company (TMAS), ISM Vietnam Maritime Services Joint Stock Company also awarded 20 scholarships and two large-screen televisions serving teaching and learning.

The exchange program took place excitingly and meaningfully with many activities imbued with Vietnamese - Japanese culture such as Yoshakoi dances, Vietnamese traditional songs, Vietnamese dances, green fashion show,…thereby introducing and honoring the traditional culture of the two countries.
