Maritime College No.1 held a tree-planting contest “MC1-for a green school” (21/06/2023)


Implement the Women’s Work Program in 2023, on the occasion of celebrating the XIII Trade Union Congress (2023-2028), to create an atmosphere of excitement and solidarity in the whole unit, on the afternoon of June 15, 2023, the Women’s Affairs Committee coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to organize a tree-planting contest: “MC1-for a green school”, at the hall of Maritime College No.1.

Attending the program were Mr. Luu Viet Hung - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the school; Ms. Vu Thi Hai Van - Chairman of the Trade Union, the Chairman of the School Council and leaders of the Union departments, faculties, centers, departments and 14 teams representing trade unions.

The contest is organized with the aim of innovating the content of activities, creating a creative and useful playground for female officers, teachers and employees to exchange, learn and show off their talents; thereby fostering artistic talent, developing teamwork skill for female officials, teachers and employees.

The teams choose the theme, pots, plants, decorative objects and nameplates; and plant trees under the guidance of instructors. The time allowed is 45 minutes. After awarding the prizes, the teams can bring their tree to the office to take care of, decorate the office and this tree also help clean and increase the humidity of the atmosphere. Bonsais such as Money tree, Icus benjamina L, Luck bamboo, Aroid Palm, Arum Fern, Snake plant, ... absorb toxic air pollutants such as formaldehyde, benzene and xylene which help reduce the risk of respiratory diseases. In particular, air-purifying plants such as Peace lily, Pothos, Hedera helix,…remove antibiotics, bacteria and viruses from the air, which help reduce the risk of disease. Moreover, taking care of bonsai also helps improve health and reduce stress.

In addition, planting bonsai in the office helps create a beautiful and close-to-nature living space. Bonsais help people increase concentration and improve people’s mood. Moreover, taking care of and observing the growth of bonsais also enhances patience and responsibility.
